Whop AI chatbots: what Whop AI does, what App Store apps do, and where HelpShelf fits

If you sell on Whop and search for an "AI chatbot", you'll find three different things. One is Whop AI, Whop's own assistant. Another is AI apps you can add to your whop from the Whop App Store. The third is an AI agent on your own website that answers buyers before they reach checkout. They do different jobs, and you might use more than one.

This guide explains each, based on Whop's own docs as of October 31, 2026.

1. Whop AI: Whop's own assistant

Whop AI is Whop's support and help assistant. Whop's docs say it "provides support at any time. It can see your account — memberships, payments, and payouts — and resolve most issues." It "routes complex conversations to the support team."

Whop also pitches it beyond support. You can ask it questions about Whop, get help building your business, or "pull data or insights about your customers" at whop.com/chats/new.

Who it serves: you and other Whop users, for help with Whop itself. It's built around your Whop account. Your sales page copy and your refund terms aren't its job.

2. Whop App Store apps: AI that lives inside your whop

Whop calls apps "the building blocks for your business on Whop." The Whop App Store is "a marketplace where you can browse and install apps for your whop." It has an AI category, and Whop says "There are hundreds of apps to choose from." Once you add an app, it shows up in the left-hand column of your whop.

Whop also has support chats: "one-on-one conversations between a customer and your account," managed in an inbox with open and resolved states.

Who they serve: members and customers inside your whop. If you want an AI helper for people who've already joined, that's the place to look. Check each app's listing for what it actually does, because quality varies.

3. An agent on your own site, before checkout

You might also have a site of your own, such as a landing page, a newsletter or a personal site, where buyers read about the offer before they click through to Whop.

Whop's checkout links fit that setup. Whop says checkout links "let you send customers straight to a payment page." You can also "Ask questions before checkout" to "Collect info from users before they join," and "Redirect after checkout" to send people to a page you choose.

Checkout questions collect information. They don't answer a buyer's question. The questions that stop a sale come earlier: what's in each tier, whether there's a refund, how access works, whether the offer fits someone just starting. That's the gap HelpShelf fills.

Where HelpShelf fits

HelpShelf is a cited AI sales agent for creators. It runs on the site you control, using one script tag, and answers visitor questions from the pages you connect: your offer pages, FAQ and policies. Then the buyer clicks your Whop checkout link as usual.

  • Answers with sources. Each supported answer links to the page it came from, so buyers can check your terms themselves.
  • A clear stop. If your content doesn't cover a question, HelpShelf says so instead of guessing.
  • You, for the big ones. A visitor can ask for a person. Once they confirm, HelpShelf sends their question and recent context to your verified Telegram. That helps with high-ticket offers. Whop notes that it "caps checkout links at $2,500" when you first join, and that you can apply to raise the cap. If your offer is in that range, a quick personal reply can make the difference.
  • Leads with the question attached. A lead is saved only after the visitor enters a valid email, and you see what they asked.
  • A shareable help center. HelpShelf also gives you a public help center link with the same cited answers. Share it in your socials, emails and member welcome messages.

HelpShelf is not a Whop app, and it isn't listed in the Whop App Store. Whop still handles checkout, payments, access and your community. HelpShelf answers questions on your own site before people get there.

When you don't need HelpShelf

If you don't have a site of your own, and buyers find you on Whop and go straight from your store page to checkout, then an on-site agent has nowhere to run. Put your effort into a clear store page (Whop says "Your store page is where people can learn about your offer") and look at App Store apps for member support.

HelpShelf is worth it once you send traffic from your own site, sell higher-priced offers, or keep answering the same pre-sale questions in DMs.
