Kajabi AI: what Cofounder, Expert Agents and Kajabi MCP do, and where HelpShelf fits
Kajabi now has three AI tools. Cofounder helps you build the business. Expert Agents talk to your prospects and students. Kajabi MCP lets you run your account from Claude or ChatGPT. Kajabi's help center groups all three under "AI tools".
This guide covers what each one does, going by Kajabi's own help docs as of October 31, 2026. It also covers where an outside tool like HelpShelf fits, and when you don't need one.
Kajabi Cofounder: the assistant for building your business
Kajabi describes Cofounder as its "AI business-building assistant designed to help you turn ideas into income." It sits in the Kajabi Dashboard header, and you chat with it while you work.
Cofounder helps you define your audience and offer. It writes drafts of product copy, landing pages, emails and other marketing assets, and gives you a list of next steps. Kajabi spells out its limits: it "cannot publish content or create complete funnels, automations, or images on your behalf." You review them, then publish yourself or confirm and let it publish (Cofounder FAQ).
Who it talks to: you. Your site visitors never see Cofounder.
Kajabi Expert Agents: AI that talks to your visitors
Expert Agents are the AI tools your audience sees. There are two types:
- Sales Agent. It lives on your landing and sales pages and answers "questions about pricing, what's included, and which Offer is the right fit." Kajabi says it "won't invent products or pricing you haven't published." It also won't buy for a visitor, issue refunds or change settings.
- Teaching Assistant. It helps enrolled members after they buy, using the course material you've published in Kajabi.
A few details matter if you're deciding whether to use one:
- Lead capture. The Sales Agent can ask for an email after 3, 5 or 8 messages. Kajabi saves the email as a Contact, and you can use it to trigger an Automation. Kajabi notes the agent "asks for an email address only."
- Human takeover. All conversations land in one inbox, and you can step in. Kajabi's docs say "Takeover is manual. The Sales Agent does not automatically escalate to you."
- Where it runs. "Expert Agents render only on Kajabi-hosted pages." Each agent belongs to one Kajabi site.
- Price. Kajabi's Expert Agents overview lists "$49 per month" per agent. Each agent includes 1,000 messages and 250 AI credits a month. If you buy more than one agent, they're 30% off ($34.30 each).
If everything you sell lives on Kajabi pages, the Sales Agent is a sensible first thing to try. It's built in, it already knows your Offers, and it captures emails into the Contacts list you already use.

Kajabi MCP: your Kajabi account inside Claude or ChatGPT
Kajabi MCP is "a Model Context Protocol server that connects your Kajabi account to AI tools like Claude and ChatGPT." Once it's connected, you can ask your AI tool to list Courses, search Contacts, or draft Offers, landing pages and email broadcasts. Then you open the drafts in Kajabi to edit and publish.
Kajabi lists what it won't do: "Take actions on behalf of customers, process payments, send email blasts, surface analytics, or touch account settings."
Who it talks to: you again. Kajabi MCP is a tool for running your account, and your buyers never use it.
The three tools side by side
| Cofounder | Expert Agents | Kajabi MCP | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who uses it | You | Your prospects and members | You |
| Where it runs | Kajabi Dashboard | Kajabi-hosted pages only | Claude, ChatGPT and other AI tools |

| Publishes for you | Only when you ask and confirm | Not applicable | Yes, if you grant the publish permission |

Kajabi says both are currently included in plans (Cofounder FAQ, MCP doc). Future limits may apply. Checked 2026-11-03.
Where HelpShelf fits
HelpShelf is a cited AI sales agent for creators. It answers visitor questions from the pages you connect, shows the source for each answer, and says so when it can't back up an answer. It sits alongside Kajabi. Kajabi still runs checkout, email and your members area.
There are two setups where it earns its place.
1. Your buyers start on a site that isn't Kajabi.
Maybe you run a WordPress blog, a Webflow homepage or a personal site, and send buyers to a Kajabi checkout from there. Kajabi's agents can't run on those pages. HelpShelf goes on any site where you can paste one script tag, so people get answers before they click through to Kajabi.
2. You want something on your Kajabi pages that the Sales Agent doesn't do.
You can add HelpShelf to Kajabi itself. Paste the script into the Header Page Scripts field (Settings, then Site details). Kajabi notes this code loads on "every page except offer checkout pages and upsell pages." Here's what HelpShelf brings to those pages:
- Sources on answers. Each supported answer links to the page it came from, so a buyer can check the refund policy or the lesson list themselves.
- A clear stop. When your content doesn't cover a question, HelpShelf says so instead of guessing.
- A human when it matters. A visitor can ask for you directly. Once they confirm, HelpShelf sends their question and recent context to your verified Telegram. That's useful for coaching or high-ticket offers, where one reply can close the sale.
- Leads with the question attached. A lead is saved only after the visitor enters a valid email. You see what they asked, not just their address.
One practical tip: pick one chat bubble per page. Two assistants on the same sales page will confuse buyers.
When you don't need HelpShelf
Be honest with yourself about this. If all your traffic lands on Kajabi pages, an email is all you need from a lead, and you're happy to check an inbox, then Kajabi's Sales Agent covers the basics without adding another tool. Start there and see which questions it handles well.
HelpShelf makes more sense once you sell from more than one site, want buyers to see sources, or want a quick personal ping when a serious buyer asks for you.

Common questions
Does Kajabi have an AI chatbot?
Yes. Kajabi's Expert Agents include a Sales Agent for sales pages and a Teaching Assistant for members. Both run only on Kajabi-hosted pages.
Is Kajabi Cofounder the same as Expert Agents?
No. Cofounder helps you plan and draft your business inside the Dashboard. Expert Agents talk to your visitors and members.
Can I use HelpShelf and Kajabi's AI together?
Yes. You can use Cofounder or Kajabi MCP to build content and HelpShelf to answer buyers. If you also run the Sales Agent, give each assistant its own pages.
Will HelpShelf work on Kajabi checkout pages?
No. Kajabi doesn't load Header Page Scripts on Offer checkout or upsell pages, so put HelpShelf on your sales and content pages.
